Wynema Jean Shelton

Funeral services for Wynema Jean Mitchell Shelton, 82, of Gilmer will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Mike Mitchell, Reverends Marion Palmer and Blake Lander officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Born on November 1, 1931, in Upshur County to C. J. and Fannie Rutledge Mitchell, she passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014 in Tyler. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gilmer First Baptist Church. She especially loved Sundays when she cooked and was able to spend quality time with her family. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Milburn Shelton of Gilmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Marian and Chuck Bassham of Gilmer, Angie and David Sowell of Gilmer; brother, C. J. Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Valerie of Gilmer; 2 granddaughters, Carrie Leal and husband, Jack, Mandy Turner and husband, Jason; one great grandchild, Atticus Jackson Leal. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Keith Bassham. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
