William Stanley Crombie, Sr.

GILMER " Wm. Stanley "Beemer" Crombie, of Gilmer was called to be with the Lord on October 21, 2015 at home with his family by his side, after a courageous fight with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Gilmer with Reverend Richard Laster and Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating. Interment services are to be determined at a later date. He was born August 24, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Carroll Rome and Alma May Bechtold Crombie. Beemer was a bright, friendly and loving person. He graduated from Dormont High School and attended Penn State University with a major in Business. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves (1966-1972) in the field of Communications. He was a business professional with over 13 years in Customer Service & Public Relations. Before his retirement he was a Sales Associate in Electronics for Wal-Mart in Gilmer. He was Owner-Operator for a Shuttle Service at DFW Airport for over 14 years. He also worked as a Freight Handler for Federal Express, Banquet Services/Manager at DFW Hilton and management at Willhoite"s in Grapevine. After moving to Gilmer he joined the First Methodist Church where he remained an active member until his death. He loved restoring classic cars, especially Chrysler Imperials. He enjoyed gardening and was devoted to his family at The B & B Ranch. Beemer was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll R. and Alma M. Crombie. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Barbara "Babs" Crombie, son, William Stanley Crombie Jr.; and daughter, Catherine "Ceci" Crombie, all of Gilmer. Brothers, Carrol P. Crombie and wife Ann; George F. "Fritz" Crombie and wife Jeanie; Sister, Judi Stenzel and husband Dean; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Care Team Hospice Services of Longview for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided during the final days of his journey. Special thanks to nursing staff members Kay Brantley, Suzi Ashcraft, and Wayne Norvell, Director of Hospice Services. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to First United Methodist Church of Gilmer, TX.
