William P. Walker

William P. Walker, Jr., 85, of Gladewater, loving husband of the late Dixie Walker, passed away Friday May 9th, 2014. Junior, to family and friends, was born the eighth of ten children to William P. Walker, Sr. and Mary (Spears) Walker in Fairfield, Texas on February 9th, 1929. Junior worked in the oil field as a welder for most his life, and established a homestead in Gladewater in 1960 in order to pursue his passion, farming. To his last year he remained enthusiastic about what was to be planted next. He was the salt of the earth, a hard-working man that always put the needs of his family ahead of his own. Generous to a fault, he would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger if they needed it. Junior was preceded in death by his wife Dixie, parents William Sr. and Mary, sisters Martha Pace, Francis Hoggenaur, brothers William C., Vernon, Jake, and James. He is survived by sisters Leatrice Callaway, Jewel Faye Stevenson, brother Franklin Walker, sons Billy Walker, Bobby Walker and wife Linda, and daughter Pamela Hedrick and husband Coy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher Reagh and wife Kristy, Thomas Reagh and wife Adriana, Stephine Reagh and husband John Mitchell, Michelle Walker, Tammy Walker, Nathan Walker, and great-grandchildren, Daven Reagh-Horn, Taylor Reagh, Draven Reagh, Toren Reagh, Chandler Reagh, Brayden Reagh, Aaron Reagh, Hudson Reagh, Cody Herring, Emma Herring, and countless grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. Junior will be dearly missed, not only by his family, but also the innumerable lives that he has touched. Services will be under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. Graveside services will be at Gladewater Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Richard Pruitt Officiating. A visitation will be at Croley Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6 to * p.m.
