William Johnston

GILMER- Graveside services for William "Bill" Johnston, 91, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater, Texas with Rev. Mark Minter officiating. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Johnston was born on April 17, 1925 in Rusk, Texas to William Edward Johnston Sr. and Hazel Leona Barker Johnston and passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Johnston Retired from the Tarrant County Sheriff"s Department and was a member of First Baptist Church in Diana. He served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II and took part in the Second Invasion of France. Bill is survived by his wife, Verline Johnston of Gilmer; son, Bill Johnston and his wife Christine Dunlap of Lowell, "Massachusetts; step-son, Dale Steelman and his wife June and Bob Steelman all of Big Sandy; sister, Hazel Lowery of Houston, one grandson, Billy Johnston Jr. and great-grandson Noah Abraham Johnston.
