William Henry Fields

Memorial Services for William Henry Fields, 82, of Ore City will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer. Mr. Fields passed away Monday, October 8 in Longview. Bill was born April 15, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH to Curtis and Martha Fields. Mr. Fields served in the Air Force for 23 years as a pilot from 1952-1975. During his tour in Vietnam he was awarded the Silver Star and two Distinguished Flying Crosses, as well as other medals and commendations. He wore many hats after retirement; charter boat captain, commercial fisherman and rancher. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Mae Fields of Ore City, three daughters and their spouses, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
