William Cory Smith, 41, passed away on March 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication to those he cherished. He was born on April 22, 1983 in Houston, Texas.
Cory had a remarkable intellect, demonstrating his academic accomplishments from an early age without ever having to try hard. He had a profound compassion for others, always concerned about their feelings, and was fiercely protective of his family.
A great lover of sports, Cory was an exceptional soccer player who trained with the Olympic team in California during his teenage years. His passion for the game endured throughout his life, leading him to coach children’s soccer teams, where he inspired young athletes with his enthusiasm and commitment to teamwork and personal development.
He followed in his father's footsteps with a passion for writing, it allowed him to explore and express his thoughts and experiences. His words resonated with those who read them, offering insights into the world around him.
Cory was particularly proud of his involvement in mission trips to Mexico, where he wholeheartedly served children in need. His fluency in Spanish enabled him to connect deeply with those he served, and he found tremendous fulfillment in sharing his time and talents with them.
He was preceded in death by his father, James "Bill" Smith.
Cory is survived by his mother and stepfather, Bob and Lorie Pilcher; daughter, Madisyn Shaw and husband Angus; sister, Kerry Hradecky and husband Jerome; niece, Allison; nephew, Colby Linton and wife Mackenzie; along with four Smith and five Pilcher siblings.
Services for Cory were held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Enoch Cemetery.
