William E. "Bill' McClusky, 85, of Big Sandy, Texas joined his wife Lillie in Heaven Monday, November 21, 2022. Bill was born August 7, 1937 to G. E. and Ethel Mildred (Abshier) McClusky in Damon, Texas.
He graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School in 1956 along with his future wife Lille Mae, whom he married February 1, 1957.
Bill worked for the Texas State Highway Department until he was injured on the job. In 1977 he and Lillie moved their family to Big Sandy where he became active in community affairs. He served as a City Councilman, Housing Authority Director, volunteer fireman, City Fire Marshall and was once chosen Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lillie, and his brother Eugene.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debra and Johnny Johnson, his daughter Cheryl Duty; his grandchildren: Jamie McBride and husband Jeremy, Rebecca Vice and husband Ryan, Cory Johnson, Megan LeCompte and husband J.P.. Bill was blessed with seven great grandchildren: Payton, Emily, Cameron, Gabriel, Alexandra, Henry, and Denton. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Robert McClusky and Charlene and his brother J.E. McClusky along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
When health permitted, Bill traveled with Lillie to attend the various activities in which their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved.
When able, Bill was a hunter and a fisherman. Many good memories were made at the hunting camp and at the lake. Most folks didn't know, but Bill was a good cook, most of his dishes were original creations.
Bill was a member and deacon of Crossroads Baptist, Big Sandy, Texas, where he loved to sing songs with "parts" (harmony), his favorite part was bass, but he could sing any part well.
