Welton Earl Jones

Celebration of Life services for Welton Earl Jones, 77, of Gladewater will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore Dr. Pete Freeman and Reverend Keith Wilkerson officiating. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. prior to services at Gladewater Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Welton passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018, in Gladewater.

Mr. Jones was born March 2, 1941 in Gladewater, Texas to the late George Willis Jones and Ivy Lee Hancock Jones. Mr. Jones served in the United States Air Force. Welton worked as a warehouse supervisor for Brown & Root, he worked for Lone Star Steel, owned a lawn care business, assisted at Stone Goodwin Funeral Home and finally retired as the purchasing agent for Gladewater ISD. His true passion was the Lord and Welton served as a Bi-Vocational Minister for much of his life. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys play, cooking, reading and singing gospel music. Welton was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather; who loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all the family and friends he leaves behind.

Welton is survived by his wife Vicky Lynn Jones; three children Dena Michelle Barnes and husband Robert, Erin Elaine Yohn and husband Todd and Kyle Willis Jones and wife Lindsay; brother Jack Lewis Jones, Sr. and wife Jeannie; five grandchildren Austin Durham and fiancé Veronica, Shelby Abernathy and husband Brant, Abigail Yohn, William Yohn and Cooper Jones as well as many other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Ivy Jones and two brothers Bobby George Jones and Jerry Loran Jones.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church of Kilgore, 501 E. North Street, Kilgore, TX 75662.
