Mrs. Wanda Singleton Nash, 88, of Gladewater passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home after a long hard fought battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Wanda was born January 22, 1933 in Upshur County, Texas, the firstborn of five children to Jim Singleton and Corinne McCullough Singleton. She graduated from Gladewater High School in 1951. After high school, she moved to Houston to work where she met and married her first husband, Gil Poston. They had 3 children, Ernie, Cathy and Ray and returned to East Texas in 1965 to raise their family. Gil worked for the Post Office in Longview and Wanda worked for the Gladewater Mirror for many years. Mr. Poston passed away in 1972.
She later married Gene Nash of Marshall, Texas and they moved to Lake Gladewater where they were self-employed . They also had a wood shop where they made furniture, dollhouses, airplane shelves and many items for their children and grandchildren that are still being used today by their great grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a long-time active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Gladewater. She also was an active member of the Gladewater Garden Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority until her illness.
She is survived by son, Ernest Poston and Belinda of Gilmer; daughter, Cathy and Rodney Lindsey of Gilmer; Kyle and Sheri Nash of Gladewater; Kim Nash of Longview and Nikki Bryant of Kilgore; brother, Jimmy Singleton of Gladewater; grandchildren, Adrienne and Drew Davis of Bonn Germany, Kelli and Zach Paty of Edmond Oklahoma, Glynn and Morgan Lindsey of Gilmer, Kelsey and Craig Wickham of Denton, Darcie Poston of Traverse City, Michigan, Dillon Poston of Alto, Kurt and Cary Nash of Longview; great grandchildren, Wade Lindsey, Hudson and Luca Paty, Kyla, Caden and Brooke Nash.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Nash; parents, Jim and Corinne Singleton; sons David Ray Poston and Steve Nash; brothers, Jerry Singleton and Kenneth Singleton; sister, Jean Warren; and the father of her children, Gil Poston.
A private graveside service will be held at Morris Cemetery in Gilmer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.
