Services for Wanda Lynn Thompson, 89, of White Oak and formerly of Abilene, will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 10 A.M. at the White Oak United Methodist Church with Reverend David Banks officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 10 A.M. at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene, Texas, with the Reverend Joel D. Sanders officiating. Born on February 5, 1924, in Woodson, Texas, to James Osborne and Beulah Hixie Ledbetter Sanders, she died on Sunday, June 2, 2013. Reared in the Ft. Griffin area, she was a 1942 graduate of Throckmorton High School. She married Leonard D. Thompson, Sr. on June 7, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1997. She lived in Abilene, Texas, until moving to White Oak in 1994. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving in various leadership positions in Fair Park United Methodist Church and Elmwood West United Methodist in Abilene and White Oak United Methodist. She was a longtime volunteer for Hendrick Medical Cener in Abilene and Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. She was a homemaker. She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Darlene Thompson; Roger and Deborah Thompson; and Rob and Susan Thompson; and 9 grandchildren, John and Kim Thompson, Jennie and Chris Fucaloro, Stephanie and Brett McKinney, Brett and Lauren Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, Adam Thompson, Alice and Chris Moore, Mechel McKinley, and Mary Jacob McKinley; 12 great-grandchildren, Bobby Don Thompson, Brett Thompson, Brooke Holder, Aidan Fucaloro, Augustus Fucaloro, Tanner McKinney, Mallory McKinney, Tyson McKinney, Grayson Thompson, Peyton Thompson, Kyle Thompson, and Colin Prior; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Mya Thompson, Cash Thompson, Evelyn Kate Holder, and Cody Holder; and sister-in-law, Lanell Sanders of Albany; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; and 7 sisters. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
