Funeral services for W. E. "Wink" Gibson, 85, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2013, at Rosewood Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Grice Cemetery in Upshur County under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mr. Gibson passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Longview. He was born on May 23, 1928, in Upshur County, to E. A. and Annie B. Bell Gibson. Mr. Gibson served in the U. S. Army, was a member of the Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A. F. & A. M. and a member of the Rosewood Baptist Church. "Wink" worked in the maintenance department at Texas Eastman before his retirement. Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Leah Gibson of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sharon Gibson of Gilmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Steve Hunter of Gilmer, Roni Caskey of Clarksville, TN., Leann and Alan Johnston of Tyler; 9 grandchildren, Candice Davidson, Wesley Youngblood, Michael Gibson, Rikki Seely, Clayton Caskey, Jordan Alsadi, Dillon Schmidt, Rachel Johnston and Caleb Johnston; 9 great grandchildren Brennan Thompson, Zac Davidson, Hunter Youngblood, Cale Gibson, Jacob Gibson, Olivia Everett, Michael Everett, Alyssa Everett and Kenzleigh Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Schmidt and great grandchild, Wesley Cole Thompson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Brennan Thompson, Michael Gibson, Caleb Johnston, Wesley Youngblood, Hunter Youngblood and Clayton Caskey.
