W. A. "Buddy" Townsend

W.A. “Buddy” Townsend of Tyler, passed away on January 22, 2024.  He was born on May 8, 1943, in Gilmer, TX to John Burl Townsend and Wilma Louise (King) Townsend.  Buddy graduated from East Mountain High School in Gilmer in 1962.  He married Gay Plummer on Dec. 27, 1962.

Buddy worked for Alcoa in their metal melting/mixing department and retired from the company in 2005.  He was a member of the West Erwin Church of Christ in Tyler.

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife, Gay Townsend of Tyler; sister, Bobbie Zbikowski of Tyler; as well as his nieces and nephews and extended family members.  He is preceded in death by his parents John Burl Townsend and Wilma Louise (King) Townsend.

Graveside services for Buddy will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Gilmer, TX, with Dan Manuel officiating.   Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
