Vivian Earl Averett

Graveside services for Mr. Vivian Earl Averett, 96, of Gilmer, will be held 11:00 A.M, Friday, August, 13, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer with officiating. Mr. Averett passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Gilmer. He was born on November 13, 1913, in Upshur County to David Earl and Alma Oliver Averett. Mr. Averett served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was an independent grocer in the Dallas area before his retirement. He lived in Gilmer for six years after moving from the Dallas area. Mr. Averett is survived by three grandchildren, David Averett, Leslie Deen and Joe Averett; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Averett in 2007 and son Mike Averett in 2004. No formal visitation is scheduled.
