Virginia Phillips Blount nee Warwick

Celebration of life services for Mrs. Virginia Phillips Blount nee Warwick, 88, of Gladewater will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Mr. Todd Clifton officiating. Mrs. Blount passed away, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at her home in Gladewater. Mrs. Blount was born July 23, 1927 in Camden, Arkansas to the late Clyde and Junetta Warwick. Mrs. Blount was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gladewater. She was retired from Darr Equipment in Longview where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for twenty-five years. Virginia was a Gladewater H.S. Class of 1945 graduate. She enjoyed music; especially Big Band and traditional gospel hymns; needlework, jigsaw puzzles as well as many other arts and crafts. Virginia will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and devoted homemaker. She will be truly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, William R. Phillips, Jr. and wife Ann Phillips, Leslie and Leo Willeford, Lisa K. Blount, Sheri McFarland and Bryan Kelly; sister Shirley Ann Cheshire and husband, Dennis Chesshir. Mrs. Blount"s pride and joy were her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Dr. William R. Phillips, III and wife Anna Leigh, Ellen and Matt Massey, Dustin and Philana Hollingsworth, Ashley Ann Foret, Lyndsey Rae McFarland, Brett Foret, Kaytie Carney, John and Sarah Phillips, Parker and Brady Hollingsworth. Her nieces and nephews were like her children because of her deep love of family. Known as "Vir" by her dearest long-time friend, Bobbie Modisette, Mrs. Blount treasured her many lifelong friendships. Mrs. Blount is preceded in death by her first husband William R. Phillips, Sr.; four brothers Lawrence Warwick, James Warwick, Keith Warwick and Don Warwick; two sisters Betty Pickering and Josephine Burgess.
