Virginia Louise Lawrence

"Absent from the body"present with the Lord." -2 Cor. 5:8 Virginia Louise McCullough Lawrence (you probably knew her as "Lou") departed this life and walked into her Heavenly Homecoming on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Her spirit is carried on by her six children, 10 grandchildren and sister. What a blessing to imagine her shedding happy tears of gratitude, kissing the feet of her Savior. What a blessing to think of the open arms and many kisses of her much loved parents, Mackie and Harry John Crump McCullough, as they joyfully received her. What a blessing to picture her surrounded by special sisters, a great grandchild, and friends who have gone before. Beautiful thoughts of a beautiful reunion. Lou was born on May 20, 1924 in Paducah, Kentucky and lived her adult life in Longview. Our Lou was an impressive lady and had some fun quirks. She would always keep the car keys under the car mat, so they didn"t get lost. She was very quick to entertain her family with a loud, attention grabbing, yodel (not limited to the privacy of home). The dogs were her favorite yodel partners; the louder the better. She loved everything antique, except her men. Any antique shop within driving distance is sure to have been graced with her shopping. She liked to stop at Waffle House for breakfast after a late night of antique shopping. At 1:30 a.m., she once told her antiquing partner that she would have to find someone else to shop with if she continued to go home so early! She has used the same PO Box since 1971, located downtown Longview. Always seen in public with a hat; the bigger the better! She would never get too far away from red lipstick. Put on your red lipstick and live a little! If you weighed more than 106 pounds, you can rest assured you would be scolded about your weight. Her vehicle of choice: a red El Camino. There was a bit of a rebel in her that she kept very tightly under wraps, but it came out every now and again. And now she"s gone. It"s sad, but not unexpected. She is with Jesus. Lou lived a very full life. She was super active well into her 80s and was able to see her grandchildren grow up. Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Mackie Spann McCullough and Harry John Crump McCullough; her husband, G. B. Lawrence, Jr.; sisters, Margaret, Doris, Millie, and her brother, Harry. Lou is survived her children, Bennie Pascal Killingsworth and his wife, Janice, Eddie Virginia McCullum Moore, Dixie McDaniel Lee and her husband Michael Grant, Cindy McDaniel Dawson and her husband Fred, Beth McDaniel Hogan, Cathy McDaniel Rogers; by her grandchildren, Cheryl Jaskiewicz, Gabe Hogan, Karas Hatch, Cerin Lee, Chelsey Hess, Lee Moore, Katherine Mauck, Bennie Killingsworth,Jr., Wendi Moore Myers, Jennifer Neitz and by 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Ingalls and her husband, Ray. Graveside services for Mrs. Lawrence will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Memory Park in Longview, Tx. under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. No formal visitation will be held.
