Violet Mae Gorden Green

Violet Mae Gorden Green was born in Beggs, Oklahoma, December 19, 1933 to Manuel William Gorden and Mary Elizabeth Miller Gorden. She attended Okmulgee schools and graduated from Okmulgee High School. Violet married Douglas Green August 16, 1954, moved to Longview, and later settled in White Oak, Texas. Douglas and Violet were business partners for several ventures including Green"s Television and Appliance; K&N Root Beer; and Green"s Distributing Company in Oklahoma and Longview. She was a member of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce. Violet attended Kilgore College and East Texas Baptist University majoring in elementary education. She adored working with children in various children"s ministries throughout the years. She was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; Brother James Gorden; and grandson Jay Goodwin. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Green of White Oak; brother, Tommy Gorden of Pawnee, Oklahoma; sister, Phyllis Arnold of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Mariola Taylor of Red Oak; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Elizabeth Green and Stewart Brinkoeter of White Oak; grandson, Isaac Stephens and his wife, Joan of Karnack; grandson, Timothy Taylor of Red Oak; granddaughter, Andrea Watson and her husband, Jesse of Midlothian; and great grandchildren, Rebecca Stephens, Kristen Stephens, Stephen Taylor, and Tessa Watson. The family will receive visitors at White Oak United Methodist Church (WOUMC) Wednesday, September 21 at 11:30 AM. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 PM at WOUMC with Dr. David Banks officiating, Reverend Phillip Little presenting the message, Stewart Brinkoeter and Isaac Stephens delivering the eulogy. Debra Cline, Andrea Watson, and Leoma Hagan will perform musical selections. Internment follows at Grace Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers include Isaac, Rebecca, and Kristen Stephens; Sammy and Timothy Taylor; and Jesse Watson. Honorary pall bearers include Gerald Corley and Paul Roland.
