Vernon Gartman

Vernon Wayne Gartman, 71, of Deer Park, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Houston, Texas to John Leslie & Enid Blanche Cunningham Gartman. Vernon graduated from South Houston High School in 1962 and on January 23, 1966 married Linda Kaye Askew. He served in the US Air Force from 1965 -1969. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife Linda, both his parents, and his brother Rayburn Leslie Gartman. He is survived by his daughters, Dee Dee (Ronald) Seiter and Kathy (Brian) Hotaling; his mother-in-law Mary Askew & family; his sister Alvern Gartman (Bill) Stanley & family; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole), William, and Cynthia Seiter; Joshua, Kayleigh, and Kyle Hotaling; his great-granddaughter Brooke Lynn Seiter; and many nephews & nieces. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Deer Park Funeral Home in Deer Park, Texas.
