DIANA: Services for Vera O. Cook, 86, of Harleton will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 22, 2017 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with Pastors Debbie Brown and Wade Skinner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. She passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Cook was born November 15, 1930 in Linden, Texas to Lonnie and Amy Sims. She was a nurse for many years and member of Smyrna UMC. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary Post in Jefferson, Texas She married William E. “Bill” Cook on May 18, 1947 in Linden, TX and was preceded in death by Mr. Cook in 2012.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Billy Ray Cook and wife Michele, daughters and son-in-law: Linda Dondero-Strait and husband Eric Strait and Vicki Daniel, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings and granddaughter Rebecca Daniel.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 21, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
