Travon Evers Gladewater " Memorial services for Travon Evers, 56, of Gladewater, will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 3 P.M. at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Evers and Pastor Samuel Evers officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Friendship Baptist Church. Born on March 4, 1955, he died on Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. A true Christian, he was a man who would always lend a hand and would give of himself to no end. A wonderful provider, Travon worked for the Longview Bridge and Road Company for three years as a truck driver and prior to that, he ran his own concrete company for twenty-five years. Travon loved to fish, garden, and spend time with his family. He was a man of endless energy and would join his grandchildren swimming and playing ball, even after long hours at work. His garden was one to be envied and was a project he looked forward to every year. Travon was an exceptional man and could brighten your day with a word or a smile. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Evers of Gladewater; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Michelle Madden of Grand Prairie and Mark and Krystal Evers of Gladewater; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ray Evers of Sulphur Springs; James Evers of White Oak; Trondell Evers of Gladewater; 3 sisters, Janell Ziegler of Wyoming; Mary Duncan of White Oak; and Merlin Vinson of Longview; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Buley Evers; 3 sisters, Kathy, Sylvia, and Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gladewater National Bank, Travon Evers Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1749, Gladewater, Texas 75647. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
