Graveside services for Mr. George Thomas Steele, 75, of Gilmer will be held 11:00 A.M, Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Gilmer City Cemetery with Larry W. Osborne officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Steele passed away on Monday, February 15, 2010 in Gilmer. He was born January 2, 1935 in Upshur County to Asa and Margaret Melissa Loftis Steele. Tommy was a funeral director for Burks-Walker-Tippet Funeral Home in Tyler, Stone Goodwin Funeral Home in Gladewater and Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Gilmer Country Club and First Baptist Church of Gilmer. Mr. Steele is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kelly Steele of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Rick Gabehart of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, James and Bernice Steele of Irving; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Albert Thompson of Ft. Worth, Bonnie and C. W. Flemming of Gilmer; four grandchildren, Nathan Steele, Lucas Steele, Allison Gabehart, Amy Sepulveda and her husband, Stephen; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Sepulveda. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Davis Steele in 2004; granddaughter, Ashley Gabehart; brothers, Charles and A. F. Steele; sisters, Doris Jones, Juanita Puckett and Grace Helen Weisinger and brother-in-law Bybee Weisinger. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Jones, Bob Lindsey, Bill Wright, David Weisinger, Rick Gabehart, Tommy Bledsoe, Bobby Osborne, Steve Dean, Murray Bass.
