Tommy Owen

Tommy Owen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children at his side on November 30, 2021 at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield, TX.

Tommy was born September 10, 1942. In Upshur County, Tx. to Parents, “Hub “and “Bill” Owen. He was an only child but adored his cousins, Donna, Linda, and Sue like sisters, and continued his relationships with them for life. He spent most all of his formative years growing up on the farm tending to many responsibilities and showing his animals often, sporting a few prize ribbons as well. When his father became Sheriff, Tommy lived in the courthouse some of the time and commuted to the farm and school.

After graduating high school from Gilmer and Union Grove, he attended University of North Texas. Obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Education and History. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in Education. He worked diligently and never missed a work opportunity. He also became a private pilot during these years. A hobby he enjoyed very much. For those who knew him well, know his work ethic was unmatched. Working in the medical field as National Acct manager until he became an entrepreneur and had decades of success in his field. Even in his “retirement” years he was working for Uber until the week before he left this earth. He was highly recommended by many. Tommy had several ups and downs throughout his lifetime. Diagnosed with Diabetes 40 years ago, he did his best to persevere. He was a very passionate person with a tremendous sense of humor and intelligence. Truly, One of a kind.

Tommy is survived by his children, Adam Owen, Amy James and Amanda Porter; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed may he rest in peace until we meet again.

A memorial service for Tommy will be held at Croley Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
