Thurman “T” Hearn of Gilmer passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in Quitman. Service for Mr. Hearn will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017, 3:00 P.M. at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. David Mays officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Masonic graveside rites will be held at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home.
Mr. Hearn was born on February 23, 1927 in Upshur County to the late Alva Hearn and Annie May. He worked as freight supervisor for American Airlines, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, and a member of the Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A.F. & A.M. Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #355 in Gilmer. He also serviced in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his son; Thurman Sidney Hearn of Beaumont; daughters; Beverly Hamilton of Gilmer, Donna Specht and husband Gene of Quitman, Paula Burgi and husband Harvey of Crowley, Faye Hall and Husband Charlie of Colleyville, Gay Mazey of Allen, Daughter-in-law; Liz Fisher of Van, 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Mr. Hearn was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Pat Hearn, daughter and son-in-law; Linda and Jimmy Patterson and son-in-law; Dale Ray Fisher.
