Thomas Lee Matthews

Funeral services for Thomas Lee Matthews, 87 of Mesquite will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer. Interment will follow at Glade Creek Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Matthews passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Dallas.
Thomas was born January 5, 1931 in East Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Matthews and later married Betty Jean (Monk) Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a proud veteran as he served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He was an avid football fan and loved to watch his favorite team, The Dallas Cowboys. Thomas also enjoyed spending time with his family and doing word searches. Mr. Matthews worked for the City of Mesquite for 30 years and was also of the Christian faith.
Thomas is survived by his great niece, Kylie and Justin Freeman of Royce City and numerous nieces and nephews.
