Thomas David Clegg

Thomas David Clegg, 92, of Ore City, Texas, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Tom was born January 20, 1931, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Chesley D. and Coralie Lois Simmons Clegg. After high school, Tom joined the Navy and served his country for twenty years including the Korean War and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After retirement from the Navy, he worked as a chemist at Lone Star Steel until his retirement.  Mr. Clegg attended as many Naval reunions as possible. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Ore City, and enjoyed time with his family and friends along with serving the youth of Ore City.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Richard D. Clegg, Thomas D. Clegg, Jr. and a brother, Chesley D. Clegg, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ann Clegg; sons, Tommy Clegg, Keith Robison; daughters, Belinda Slaughter, Ann Garriss, Crystal Rodrigues; a sister, Linda Zimmerman and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A private service will be held for Mr. Clegg at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ore City Youth Sports Association, P O Box 956, Ore City, Texas 75683.
