Theresa Caroline Eakes

Theresa Caroline “Terry” Eakes, age 90, of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, formerly of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Wood Memorial Nursing Home in Mineola, Texas. Terry was born in Clifton, Kansas on April 9, 1929, to the late Henry and Minnie Schumaker. She worked as a registered nurse, a devoted homemaker, and a licensed realtor in Arizona. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sun City West Arizona. She loved to play bridge, crochet, cross-stitch, and watch the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball games. Terry loved socializing with her neighbors and friends, but her greatest joy was helping others by volunteering at her beloved church and in her community.


She married Mr. Philip Eakes on June 23, 1956, in Clay Center, Kansas, he preceded her in death in 1999. She is also preceded by her parents Henry and Minnie Schumaker; and six siblings, Agnes Marie, Betty Lou, Gerald Julius, Francis Omar, Glen Joseph, Mary Rita.


She is survived by her daughters, Ann Eakes and husband Keith Pickens of San Antonio; Texas, Mary Danner and husband Randy of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas and son Michael Patrick Eakes of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Amber Danner-Kirk and husband Curtis of Tyler, Ashley Danner and fiancé Marcus Lillie of Arlington, Alisha Groves and husband Kevin of Holly Lake Ranch, Ellery Pickens and Alana Pickens of San Antonio; six great-grandchildren, Chancelor, Aubrie, Barron, Milo, Jameson, and Jonathan.


A memorial mass for Terry will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Holly Lake Ranch. Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Croley Funeral Home of Hawkins. Inurnment will take place at Mt.Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas at a later date.
