Terry Lynn Byrd

Terry Lynn Byrd, formerly of Gladewater, passed away in Conroe, TX, March 29, 2011 after a long illness with COPD. He was born July 12, 1956 in Gladewater, TX. Lynn graduated from Texas City High School in 1974. He attended Texas A & M University on a track scholarship. He was a high jumper. Lynn won first place at the state meet in 1974 and as a freshman at A & M, he won first place at the Southwest Conference Meet. After graduating from Sam Houston State University, he worked twenty-six years and retired from Texas Eastman Chemical Plant in Longview, TX. Lynn spent the last year of his life with his loving, supportive parents. Lynn was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Marc Byrd; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Berryhill and Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Byrd; and uncles, Bill Berryhill and David Cline. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Byrd; sister, Joy Collins and husband Jerry Dodd Collins, Jr; nieces, Tiffany, Lauren, and Kelsie Collins; aunts, Jannette Cline and Barbara Berryhill; and many cousins. Lynn was a loving son, brother, and uncle, and he will be missed more than words can express. Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. A graveside service will be at the Friendship Cemetery at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2011.
