DIANA: Theodore Albert Coffman “Ted” left this temporary home and entered his heavenly home on December 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Ore City Church of Christ with Johnny Coleman officiating, under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Graveside and interment will be at the Ore City Cemetery.
Ted, 93, was a resident of Wesley Oaks in Gilmer, Texas. He was born to Lonnie Albert and Beatrice Bonds Coffman in Alabama City, Alabama on December 12, 1923. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged, he moved his wife and three daughters to Texas (living in Hughes Springs, Lone Star and finally settling in Ore City) while employed at Lone Star Steel. He retired from Lone Star Steel in 1984 after 32 years. Ted served as a city councilman and on the Ore City school board. He was an avid tennis player and president of the Longview Tennis Association and was a member of the Ore City Church of Christ.
Waiting for him in his new Home is his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Stella (Pet) Talton Coffman, his parents, an infant brother, George Coffman, son-in-law David Harold Silvertooth, grandson LPD Sgt Jerry W. Hancock, Jr. and numerous other relatives.
He is survived by three daughters, Rose Ann Silvertooth of Henrietta, Texas, Susan Kay Smith of Gilmer, Texas and Kathryn Bea Hancock and husband Jerry W. of Gilmer, Texas. Grandchildren Patrick Silvertooth and wife Ashley of Henrietta, Texas; Spring Silvertooth Galmon and husband Mark of Denver, Colorado; Terence C. Hancock and wife Katy of Dallas, Texas. Great-grandchildren Prestley and Piersen Silvertooth of Henrietta; Keely Shea Hancock of Tyler; Ridgely and Sawyer Hancock of Dallas; and Grant and Ross Galmon of Colorado. Also surviving him are numerous extended family members.
The family will receive visitors from 10-12 o’clock. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 prior to the service at Ore City Church of Christ.
