Services for Mrs. Anna "Sue" Williams, 81 of Gilmer will be held 4:00 P.M, Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at First United Methodist Church of Gilmer with Bro. Richard Laster and Bro. Huey Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mrs. Williams passed away in Longview on Monday, April 25, 2011. She was born December 16, 1929, in Dial, Texas to Bart A. and Louise Thomas Walker. On January 14, 1951 she married James H. "Jim" Williams in Bowie, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Williams was a retired educator, member of KC"s Adult Education Advisory Council, the director of the Upshur County Literacy program, a longtime Rotary club member. Mrs. Williams was named, teacher of the year in 1992, 1993 educator of the year. In 2000, she was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women"s Club , 2004 she was the First Lady of the Year for Beta Sigma Phi sorority and in 2010 Citizen of the year of Gilmer. Mrs. Williams was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Williams is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Lane and Carolyn Williams of Gilmer; daughter, Jamie Amos of Gilmer; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ginger Walker of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Doris & Bennie Tidwell of Bowie, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Derek Amos, Samantha Duvall and Emily Williams; 1 great grandchild, Eli Garrett Duvall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upshur County Literacy Program, 201 N. Montgomery, Gilmer, Texas 75644.
