Steven Dale Ivie

On Friday, June 30, 2023 Steven D. Ivie 68, of Gilmer, TX was called to his eternal home after a long brave and courageous battle with his illness. Steve was born to Glenn and Evelyn Ivie, December 30, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas.

Steve started his career in Lake Charles, LA as an oil and gas abstractor. He later relocated to the Dallas Fort Worth area and worked as a Commercial Title Examiner in the Real Estate industry for over 30 years. His experience gave him the opportunity to work on many multi-million dollar projects across the DFW Area such as Las Colinas area development, Downtown Dallas office buildings, and the DFW airport in the early days of development. Steve was proud to have contributed to the growth and success of those projects for the area.

Steve is survived by his life partner of 40 years Frank Sullivan. His two sisters Gwen (husband Lee John) Kominczak of Brenham TX, their children Tricia Terry (husband Robert) and their two sons Joshua and Caleb. Jeannette Kominczak of Alaska. Lee Kominczak of Brenham and his children Abigail, Amanda, and Michael.

His sister Katy Webb of Porter, TX and her children, T.J. Coats, Jeanna Coats (Shelby) and their son Gunner. Brittany Gaddis (Michael) of Purcell, OK. And their children Aden, Zoe, and Dylan.  The Sullivan family his large extended family

Steve was always ready to boast of his nieces and nephews accomplishments and their life success as he watched them grow into their adult lives. Steve enjoyed shopping for antiques and decorating. He had a great sense of style, loved shopping for clothes, and always said he never paid full price. He enjoyed dining with his friends and enjoyed learning of different cultures to broaden his life experience and knowledge. He was a big fan of the State Fair of Texas and attended for over 35 years and would invite friends and family to enjoy the fun.

Steve’s departure from this life to his eternal home leaves his family and friends with such a void in their hearts.  We pray for his rest and peace in his new life.

A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the Croley Funeral home in Gilmer, TX on July 29, 2023 starting at 12:00 PM with reception to follow next door at the Masonic Lodge.
