On August 17, 2020, Stann Douglas Stockstill, loving husband and father of 5 children passed away at the age of 72.
Stann was born on September 27, 1947 in Mississippi. He grew up in Waterproof, LA, Ferriday, LA as well as Big Sandy, TX where he attended Imperial High School. Stann worked various jobs throughout his life, but the Oilfield was his home. He retired from Marathon Oil and Gas, but not one to be inactive for long, he created his own business and contracted himself out as a pumper in the East Texas area.
Stann was a DIE-HARD COWBOYS FAN and believed that they truly are AMERICA’S TEAM. If he could not watch them on the TV, he could be found sitting in his truck with them loud and proud on his radio.
Stann was preceded in death by his father Alvin Cecil Stockstill, his mother Ollie Viola Rabb Stockstill, son Casey Wallace, grandson Shawnan Kay and granddaughter Meagan Wallace. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra Glenn Stockstill, his 4 children and their spouses, Daughter Kelly Stockstill-Newman, Son John Stockstill, Daughter Debra Stockstill-Kay and husband Rex Kay, Son Gary (Bubba) Wallace and wife Nancy Wallace as well as 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Big Sandy at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 22, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the MS society in Stann’s name would be greatly appreciated.
