Services for Mr. Stanley Carl Burks,49, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M, Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating and military honors to follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Burks died on Monday, January 17, 2011 in Lexington, Texas. He was born June 2, 1961 in Blythe; CA, to H. Stanley Burks and Linda Sue Smith Burks. Mr. Burks served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp retiring as a Master Sergeant. He married Tanya Alaine Morton in Tyler, Texas on March 23, 1985. Stan was the owner of Burks Land Service and a member of ETAPL and AAPL; also a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Tanya Burks of Gilmer; sons, Zachary Burks and his wife, Megan of Jacksonville, NC, Travis Burks of Gilmer, mother, Linda Burks of The Colony, Texas, Father and Step-mother, H. Stanley and Cleda Burks of Hensley, Ark.; brothers, Alan Burks of Okinawa, Japan, Wayne Burks of Jacksonville, N.C.; sisters, Carla Dearing, Redding, CA, Ellen Kornegay of Paducah, KY, Debbie Burks of Flint, Michigan ; 14 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 21, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
