Services for SPC. Justin Wade Powell, U. S. Army, 21, of Ft. Hood will be held 10:00A.M, Friday, August 12, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, Texas with Bro Alan Metzel officiating. Burial will follow at Willard Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas in Wood County. SPC. Powell passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Gilmer. Justin was born on November 24, 1989, in Clovis New Mexico. He was an Air Traffic Controller for the U. S. Army and was still on active duty returning from a recent tour of duty in Afganistan. Justin is survived by his mother, Tamara Ackerman and step-father, Jeffery Ackerman, Sr. of Wylie, Texas; father Kerry Powell and step-mother, Kimberly Powell of Gilmer; brothers, Jeffrey Ackerman, Jr. of Frisco; SPC. Chris Ackerman, U. S. Army of Ft. Gordon, Kameron Powell of Gilmer, Tanner Morris of Gilmer; sisters, Courtney Powell of Big Sandy, Donna Ackerman of Still Water, OK, Kassandra Ackerman of Wylie, Texas; grandparents, James and Bobbie Powell of Gilmer, David Morris of Gladewater, Linda Moore of Longview; Jack and Sandi Howard of Winnsboro; Mary Ann Ackerman of Saugerties, NY , Carl Hanson of Denver, CO; aunts and uncles, Mike and Pam Powell of Winnsboro, Miranda Powell of Gilmer, Candice Coscione of White Oak, April and Eric Keith of Longview, Stephen Hanson of Denver, CO, Stephanie Hanson of Denver, CO, Misti Coldwell of Mt. Pallbearers will be the U. S. Army Honor Guard. The Honorary Pallbearers are Hunter Powell, Dale Wetzel, Koe Wetzel, Bubba Wetzel, Steve Weems and Jason Weems. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 11, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
