Skyler Reece Eddington

October 6, 1998 — July 4, 2019

Skyler Reece Eddington

In the early afternoon of July 4, 2019, Skyler Reece Eddington gained his eternal independence away after an unexpected brief illness in Tyler.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. A celebration of life service will proceed at 11:00 AM at Croley Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Smith and Sean Eddington officiating. Interment will follow at New White Oak Cemetery in White Oak.
Skyler was born October 6, 1998 in Longview to Jason Eddington and Christy (Eddington) Jameson. From the beginning, Skyler demonstrated an intelligence beyond his years. He would use his skill as wordsmith to ask his parents the same question hoping he could garner a different response. Often times, he would leave them wondering what they just had given permission for him to do. He could pen his perplex thoughts in a matter of minutes. He loved the night sky and found solace in the magnificent grandeur where “millions of milk drops dance and mingle about.”
Skyler’s sparkling eyes, bright smile, and good looks would disarm the most cynical of people. His mischievous sense of humor “was drawing you in like moth to the flame, you reach out, attempting to kindle the ember in your hand” and realize you had just embarked on his wild ride of adventure.
He learned the survival skills necessary for adventure during his years in the Boy Scouts. The values he learned would serve as a foundation for him as he moved forward in his life, facing and beating many obstacles in his path.
Music was his passion and he was most reflective when he was playing and creating music. He was self-taught and constantly honing his craft. He excelled on the drumline at White Oak and Union Grove schools. He attended TCU summer drum camps and he earned the honor of auditioning with the elite Crossmen Drum Corp. He enjoyed a diverse genre of music but he found comfort and strength in Christian music.
Skyler loved Independence Day and was an ardent supporter of Veterans. He had recently wrote of this appreciation when he said, “The road to freedom is paved with the blood of patriots…ensuring the preservation of freedom.” Some of the precious memories his family has to sustain them are from his celebration of all things American on Independence Day.
Skyler had diverse interests. He could speak in-depth regarding the expanses of philosophy and turn around and own you at an intense level of video games.
His family finds great peace and comfort in knowing Skyler had a personal relationship with God.
Left to cherish his memory are his dad and step-mom, Jason and Rhonda Eddington of Union Grove; mom, Christy Jameson and Patrick Riley, of White Oak; grandmother, Sue Eddington of Union Grove; grandmother, Jamie Jameson of Tyler; great-grandparents, Holly and Gerry Ishee of White Oak; Aunt and Uncle Angela and Brian Woolley of Tyler, Becky and Scott Eaton of Sabine and numerous cousins along with many wonderful friends.
Skyler was preceded in death by brother, Evan Strickland, grandfathers, Eddie Eddington and John Jameson; uncles, Robin Eddington and Dewayne Jameson.
