Shirley Darlene (Woods) Revill

Shirley Darlene (Woods) Revill, 72, of Hawkins, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, with her husband of 53 years by her side. She was born to Travis and Christine Woods on August 6, 1951, in Hawkins, Texas. Shirley was quick to remind people that she was born during a power outage in the heat of August. After graduating from Hawkins High School in 1969, she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Tyler Junior College.

She married Charles Revill on June 27, 1970, and lived in Hawkins for the past 53 years. She is survived by her husband, Charles Revill, her son, Jason, daughter-in-law Molly, and three grandchildren, Madison, Lincoln, and Justus. In May of this year a new family member was added when Charles and Shirley joined family and friends to see Lincoln get married to Rayven.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her brother, Micky Woods and his wife Carole, of Quitman, sister, Trellis Simms of Flora, Mississippi, her brother-in-law, Jim and his wife Susan of Corsicana, and sister-in-law, Shirley Falzone and her husband Vince, of Keller. She was the beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Christine Woods, brothers, Ray Woods and Roger Woods, and sister, Janet Kay Dunlap.

She worked for 29 years as the assistant manager of Jerry’s Foods in Hawkins. She worked an additional 8 years at the Holly Lake Banking Center and Gladewater National Bank. In her time at Jerry’s, she touched the lives of countless people.

Shirley loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and attended Smith Chapel Global Methodist Church in Hoard. She was an avid reader and loved her pets. A hungry stray cat in the neighborhood would not be hungry for long.

Visitation will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins, Texas, on Sunday, October 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Chapel Global Methodist Church in Hoard on Monday, October 23, at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at the Hawkins cemetery.
