Shirley Rae Jones

Funeral services for Shirley Rae Jones, 81, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Gilmer Apostolic Church in Gilmer with Reverend Eddie Jones and Reverend Gary Jones officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mrs. Jones passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Gilmer. Mrs. Jones was born September 12, 1934, in Bakersfield, CA, to Jerome and Elsie Wilmyth Frye Davis. She married Kenneth Dearl "Buck" Jones on January 10, 1953 and they lived in the Gilmer area since 1972. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the Gilmer Apostolic Church. She was a talented quilter and loved embroidering and sewing. Mrs. Jones is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Darrell and Tammy Jones, Wayne and Sandra Jones, Casey Jones, Buck Jones, Richard and Christina Jones all of Gilmer; daughters and son-in-law: Wilma and Frank Diaz of Laredo, and Rae Nell Allen of Gilmer; brothers: Harry, Kenneth, and Lloyd Davis; sisters: Pat Highline, Linda Davis, Jackie Davis, Sharron Draper; 24 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, and special friends; Jerry Shadden and family. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth "Buck" Jones on April 11, 2010; her parents; a sister, Artie Davis and a brother, Jerry Davis. Thank you to Dr. Lewis King, Toni Martin, Sherry and Legacy Hospice for the special care given to Mrs. Jones. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Gilmer Apostolic Church.
