Shirley Randel Griffith

Shirley Randel Griffith was born on September 13, 1939 in Baldwin, Kansas and went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2025 in Longview, Texas.

Shirley had a full and wonderful life, married to Benny Ray Griffith for over 50 years. She was the mother of 7 children and Nana to 19 grandchildren with great grandchildren totaling 23 + 2 more expected soon and 1 great great grand daughter.

Shirley became a hairdresser in the early 1970s. She started her career in Pasadena, Texas. “Mountaineer Beauty Shop” built in her garage came next when her family moved to East Mountain, North of Longview. The last shop, that she owned and operated was in Gladewater, Texas known as “Shear Magic”. One customer would call her and say “Make me beautiful!!” and that would make her day, she loved her job! She had many friends and loyal customers through out the years. She was a longtime member of the East Mountain Baptist Church.

Shirley was the 2nd child of Charles and Ella Randel of Olathe, Kansas and had 5 siblings. Bill Randel and wife Connie of Kansas City, Kansas, Dick Randel and wife Lois of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, Clifford Randel of Shawnee, Kansas, Randy Randel of Henderson, Texas and Susan (Joanne) Marquis and husband William of Longview Texas.

She was the mother of 7 children, Richard Griffith and wife Dawn of New Caney, Tammy Griffith, Bobby Griffith of Gladewater, Jeff Griffith and wife Darlene of League City, Brenda Crosby and husband Joe of Nolanville, Johnny Griffith and wife Sandy of East Mountain and Jerry Griffith and wife Stephanie of Gladewater.

Shirley is proceeded in death by her husband Ray and her daughter Tammy and son Bobby. Also, her parents Charles and Ella, 2 brothers, Dick and Clifford and 1 sister- in-law, Lois.

Being a loving wife, devoted mother and wonderful sister, she was loved by many. Shirley is now reunited with the one true love of her life…

Funeral services for Shirley Griffith will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, with interment to follow at the Old East Mountain Cemetery.
