Selman Lamar McNew, 90, of Longview, Texas passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born March 7, 1930 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to John Thomas McNew and Stella Marie McMaree McNew. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on board the USS Juneau as a corpsman during the Korean Conflict. He worked for twenty-five years with Eastman Kodak before retiring.
He was married to Neva Laverne Grosdidier for nearly fifty years prior to her passing in 2002. They were married in Longview, Texas and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Selman is survived by his children; Daniel (Christy) McNew of Longview, Texas, Shane (Donna) McNew of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Kathy (Dave) Crystal of Rigby, Idaho. He has eighteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Neva Laverne McNew. Daughters; Karen Pannell and Virginia Grubbs. His parents; John and Stella McNew, and brothers; LaDon McNew, Floyd McNew and a sister, Joyce Holland.
Selman will be laid to rest next to his wife, Neva in the Kelsey Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home.
