Samuel Morece Nix Gladewater -- Services for Samuel Morece Nix, 73, of Azle and formerly of Gilmer, will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 1 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater with Pastor Jim Rapp officiating. Burial will be in Lone Mountain Cemetery. Born on November 18, 1938, in Delrose, Texas, he died on Friday, December 30, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired potter. He is survived by two sons, Richard Alan Nix of Gladewater and John Henry Nix of Missouri; three daughters, Joanna Scalf of Springtown; Julie Myers of White Oak; Dana Cook of Gilmer; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Preston Nix of Springtown and Paul Nix of North Richland Hills; and three sisters, Willie Mae Arrington of Gilmer; Joan Barton of Tyler; and Betty Sue Nix. He was preceded in death by his parents, Culberson Sidney and Willie Mable Nix, Sr.; brothers, Corbitt Nix, Culberson Sidney, Jr.; sisters, Wanderlinee Nix and Ruth Johnston. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
