Funeral services for Rubie Vaughn Stracener, 85, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Norvell conducting. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Stracener passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 in a Gilmer nursing home. Mr. Stracener was born August 3, 1925 in Hopkins County, Texas to Rubie and Jewel Mae Hammond Stracener. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II, retired from Lone Star Steel an a residence of Upshur County for 57 years. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Judy Stracener of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Alan Westbrook of Fairbanks, Ak.; brother: Reginald Stracener of California; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife: Gladys Stracener; and sister: Oleta Petty. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Memorials may be made to Kinsman Hospice Care, Inc 102 Buffalo Street, Gilmer, Texas 75644.
