Ruthie Lucille Edwards

GILMER- Funeral services for Ruthie Edwards, 78, of Gilmer, Texas will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Dr. Ray Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Enon Cemetery in Upshur County. Mrs. Edwards passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was born on February 13, 1938 in Gilmer to Charlie Peak and Mary Ann Turner Upchurch. She was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Enon Baptist Church. She married Harold Wayne Edwards on November 13, 1964 in El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, Wayne Edwards of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Brandi Edwards of Gladewater; daughter and son-in-law, Miranda and Brad Root of Hallsville; grandchildren, Hannah Edwards and Sammy Edwards of Gladewater, Victoria Root and Braden Root of Hallsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Charlie P. Upchurch, Mary Ann Upchurch, Stanley Upchurch, Lillian Gillentine, J.C. Upchurch, Opal Baird, Ruby Darling, and Charles Upchurch. Pallbearers will be Roy Upchurch, Sam Edwards, Randy Root, Nick Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, and Brad Root. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Edwards and Braden Root. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home.
