Ruth M. (Parnell) Allen

Graveside services for Ruth M. (Parnell) Allen, 88, of Gladewater will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020, at Locust Grove Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Mrs. Allen passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Gladewater.

Ruth was born December 1, 1931 in Gladewater, Texas to the late Johnnie Alexander Parnell and Edna Lea Richey Parnell. She worked for more than 20 years as a house mover and then worked for Gladewater I.S.D. before retiring. Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She taught Sunday School for several years at Gladeview Baptist Church. Ruth loved her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and homemaker.

She is survived by her children Carmen “Chiquita” Lea Armstrong, Vickie Jo Harrington and husband James, Donal Dean Armstrong, Cindy Brittain and husband Paul and Janie Tucker and husband Lloyd; grandchildren Justin Johnson and wife Typhani, Melissa Jo Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Lisa Nicole Whitlock, Krystal Guinn, Jason Brittain, Kris Brittain, Randy Tucker, Zachary Tucker, Kelli Tucker; great grandchildren Christopher, Cutter, Lacey, Robbie, Haley Rayann, Joshua David, Keely; Great Great Grandchildren Conner, Gavin, Gemma; special step-sons Michael Splawn and Gary Splawn; a niece; three nephews as well as many other loving family and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence Vernon Allen, daughter Amy Allen Wilson and great grandson Michael W. Allen.
