Ruth Jean Taylor

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Ruth Jean Taylor, 90, on December 2, 2022, in Gladewater. Ruth Jean was born July 28, 1932, one of eight children, in Mena, Arkansas to the late George Pierce Harroff and Lula Margarette Post.

Ruth Jean was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved children and devoted her life to taking care of children at her daycare, Tay Tay’s, in her home. Her selfless giving to others will not soon be forgotten by all those who knew her. She was kind and caring and always sincerely asked about everyone. She loved celebrating the holidays with all her family and she cooked countless delicious meals that brought joy to all. She loved getting to sit, look out her front door and read her bible. Ruth Jean was a strong, hardworking, independent woman.

Ruth is survived by her children Laura J. Severn, (Billy), Joseph M. Powers, (Gayle), Rodney A. Powers, (Sandy), George S. Powers (Mary); twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow services at Gladewater Memorial Park.
