Ruth Grimes

Funeral services for Ruth Grimes, 87, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Ray Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mrs. Grimes passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 in a Longview hospital. She was born May 25, 1928 in Crockett, TX to Richard and Sudie Richards Burks. Mrs. Grimes and her husband, Hershel were former owners of Grimes Stop and Shop and was a member of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Grimes is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Richards of Gilmer and Fran Johnson of Gilmer; brothers, Gene Burks and wife, Nellie of Willis and Larry Burks and wife, Libby of Plano; sisters, Cherry Cloud of Houston and Richie Hanes and husband, Bob of Snellsville, GA; grandchildren, Steven Youngblood, Matt Johnson and wife, Crystal; great-grandson, Max Bentley Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Grimes in 1983 and brother, Norman Burks.
