Gladewater -- Services for Ruby Louise Stringer, 90, of Hawkins, will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 11 A.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Larry W. Osborne and family members officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Born on August 26, 1922, in Joplin, Missouri, to Martin and Ada Pearl Cummins, she entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. On August 17, 1940, she married D.L. Stringer of Gladewater. She traveled the pipeline through 25 states with her husband raising her children until settling in Dallas and being the head cashier at Kroger"s for eighteen years. In 1977, they retired to Hawkins, Texas. An active member of the First Baptist Church of Hawkins, she was also a volunteer at the Hawkins Library. She thoroughly enjoyed her role as a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed and forever in the hearts of all those who knew her. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and William Godfrey of Garland; Brenda and Mark Landry of Metairie, Louisiana; and Jan and David Schindler of Frisco; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, D. L. Stringer; son, James David Stringer; and grandson, John David Trammel. Pallbearers will be Joey Stringer, Bill Godfrey, Doug Trammel, Phillip Trammel, Adam Lee, David Schindler, Cole Frisby, and Jerry Lancaster. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
