Royce Glen Skipper

Royce Glen Skipper, age 77, of Gilmer, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Christus-Good Shepherd Medical Center. Royce was born on June 12, 1943 in Upshur County to the late Ed Marion Skipper and Corine Metcalf Skipper. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 years of honorable service on active duty and in the reserves. He worked in the grocery business after his service, and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Royce loved to travel, as well as hunting and fishing before his health kept him at home.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shayne McDonald; two brothers, and four sisters.
He is survived by four daughters, Shannon Afzal and husband Taslim of Gilmer, Beth Skipper of Gilmer, Kaya Skipper of Gilmer; one son, Dakota Skipper of Gilmer; sister, Norma Jones and husband Ruben of Gilmer; grandchildren, Shayna McElwee, Joshua Plunkett, Jesse Gibson, Patrick Healy, Jeremy Healy, Angela Sanford, Brittany Fisher, Tabetha Hampton; fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
A Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Enon Cemetery in Upshur County, with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating. Patrick, Jeremy, Austin, Justin, John, and Slim will serve as pallbearers.
