Funeral services for Mr. Roy Willis Evers, 84, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at The First Assembly of God Church in Gilmer with Reverend David Sanders officiating with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Evers passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Longview. Mr. Evers was born November 21, 1929, in Mexia, TX to Howard Lee and Florence Johnson Evers. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, retired from Basin Well Service, he had lived in Upshur County for 36 years, a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gilmer and was a board member for 20 years and he also loved to witness for the Lord. Mr. Evers is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Evers of Gilmer; sons and spouses, Roy Lynn Evers and wife, Gail of Kilgore and Michael Ray Evers and wife, Linda of Gilmer; daughter and spouse, Sandria Gail Woodruff and husband, Kenneth of Gilmer; sister, Rosa Lee Rosenbalm of Longview; grandchildren, Russell Lynn Evers, Carol Jean Mularski, Donnie Wade Melton, Michael Ray Evers, Jr. and Mark Wayne Evers; great-grandchildren, Autumn Mularski, Austin Mularski, Madyson Melton and Mason Melton. He is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Raymond Evers and Grover H. Evers; sister, Jewlene Capps. Pallbearers will be Grover Bishop, Cecil Brown, Dean Frankum, Travis Josey, Phillip Wilburn and Charles Yochum. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Board Members of the First Assembly of God Church in Gilmer. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
