Rosene Johnson

GILMER " Funeral services for Mrs. Rosene Warren Johnson, 94, of Gilmer, TX will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Mickey Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery in Upshur County. Mrs. Johnson went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2016. She was born on November 28, 1921 in Winnsboro, TX to Archie and Addie McCalister Warren. She was of the Methodist faith. At the age of seventeen, she married Lenton Johnson. They lived in Houston, Texas for a while and moved to Gilmer where they made their home for life. Rosene worked at Shafers Drug for many years and at Gilmer Pottery until retirement. She was called Mama Johnson by most of her grandchildren and all of their friends. Alicia started calling her Nanny and that carried on through the younger grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Leon Johnson and Alvin Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Ann Davidson and Rhonda Lawson, both of Gilmer; six grandchildren, Nikki Moss and husband, Merwin of Chicota, Mickey Davidson and wife, Patricia, Vikki Shipp, Alicia Lawson, Shelly Johnson, Amy Shields and husband, Robert of Gilmer; nine great-grandchildren, Britney Armas, Carissa Hardage and husband, Clint, Will Davidson, Carley Moss, Lindsay Moss, Cassia Davidson, Tanner Shipp, Christian Davidson, and Trey Shields; two great-great grandchildren, Eli Armas and Lilly Hardage. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and immediate attention to their mom and a special thanks to Robin Dawson for all the support. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
