Rose Marie Dean Thacker

Funeral services for Rose Marie Dean Thacker, 86, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, Texas with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Thacker died Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Longview. Rose Dean Thacker was born October 17, 1928 in the Cox community of Upshur County, the seventh child of Jerry and Maggie Alice Maloney Dean. She grew up in Simpsonville, living all of her life in Upshur County except for 23 years when she lived in Troup with her husband who served as school superintendent. Mrs. Thacker retired in the year 2000 having worked 34 years in the public school system, the last 23 years in Troup. She moved home to Upshur County in June 2000. Rose or "Rosie" as many friends and family called her had a passion for reading and was librarian at the Upshur County and New Diana High School libraries. She worked at Troup High School in the tax assessor's office and was executive assistant to the superintendent. She was a charter member of Troup Women"s Civic Organization serving as President, secretary and on various committees. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her husband Harlan Thacker; her parents, Jerry Dean and Margaret Maloney Dean; her daughter, Susan Rose Thacker; her infant brother, Gerald Raymond Dean; her sisters, Ella Mae Dean Harris, Jerrianne Dean Thweatt, Margie Dean Mangum; her brothers, John Edward Dean and Everett Dean. She is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Thacker and wife, Carolyn of Cedar Creek Lake, her son, Phillip Dean Thacker and wife, Beth of Lake Cherokee, her daughter, Carol Ann Thacker Moore and husband, Mickey of Dallas; her grandchildren, Stephen Thacker and wife, Misty of Gilmer, Cayce Thacker Coburn and husband, Joseph of Tyler, Brooke Thacker Hallbauer and husband, Steven of Dallas, Melissa Thacker Gomez and husband, Osvaldo of Diana; David Thacker and wife, Crystal of Bellevue, Washington; Daniel de la Corte of Denver; Rebecca Thacker Petrone and husband, Zach of Dallas; Scott Moore and wife, Ashley of Tuscon; Ryan Moore and wife, Morgan of Dallas; Great-grandchildren, Aaron Thacker of Gilmer, Adam Thacker and wife, Elaine of Longview; Ashley, Autumn, Levi and Grant Thacker; Eva and Nolan Petrone; Osvaldo and Christian Gomez; Dean and Emerson Coburn; Coleman and Collin Hallbauer; Benson and Evelyn Moore; and great-great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Thacker. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Dean and wife, Virginia of Gilmer, her sister, Winnie Faye Dean Kennedy of Gladewater; her sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Dean and Jo Dean of Gilmer and Harry Thweatt of Amarillo. Pallbearers in attendance are Joseph Coburn, Daniel de la Corte, Osvaldo Gomez, Steven Hallbauer, Ryan Moore, Zach Petrone, David Thacker and Stephen Thacker. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
