Ronald Thomas Lowe

Ronald Thomas Lowe, 73, passed away peacefully at home with his with his wife of 50 years by his side. Ronald endured and ultimately won his battle with cancer in the early morning of July 13, 2018. Ronald was born to “Tommy” and Marjorie Stice Lowe on February, 17 1945 in Gainsville, TX. He grew up in and attended Whitesboro schools and graduated from Texas A&M Commerce with a B.S. in Agriculture and a M.S. in Agriculture Economics.
In college, Ronald met Mary Helen Cannon, of Gladewater, who would become his wife on November 29, 1968. Ronald and Mary both became teachers and their first jobs took them to Hanston, KS where he taught high school agriculture. He went on to teach Ag in both Avinger and Ore City, TX. In 1982 Ronald left education and started a career in industrial pump sales. This career change brought his family, that had grown by two children, to Longview, TX.
Over the next 30 years Ronald cultivated a successful sales career and was a contributing writer for Trenchless Technology magazine. He was also recognized as “Pump Master” in the industry and “Salesman of the Year” by Pentair, Inc. Upon his retirement in 2013 he worked as a consultant for Kerr Pumps. Shortly before his retirement Ronald and Mary relocated to Ore City, TX where they spent their time doing ranch work and raising cattle. They were honored to be awarded “Conservationist Farmer of the Year” for Upshur and Gregg Counties in 2018.
Ronald had a “larger than life” personality and was known for his hilarious comments and his eternal optimism. He always added just a little more fun to any ordinary endeavor. He was also a man of strong faith, maybe not quoting scripture, but always setting the right example for his children and grandchildren. Ronald loved the outdoors, picking at his grandchildren, road trips with his family and traditional country and gospel music. He was also a life-long guitar player.
Ronald will be sorely missed by his wife, Mary Lowe, his son, Brian Lowe and his daughter, Lori Danielson and her husband Chris Danielson. The two that call him “Papa”, Hank Danielson “The Hankster” and Lily Danielson “Lily Lou” are blessed with wonderful memories. He is also survived by several cousins, sister and brothers- in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his faithful dog, “Kip”. He is already reunited with his parents, Tommy and Marjorie Lowe.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15th 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, TX. The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, July 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral home with internment following at Rock Springs Cemetery, also in Gladewater.
The family would like to thank Alicia and Stacy with Heart to Heart Hospice and Robert with Highland Park Home Health. We would also like to thank our friends and family for the multitude of prayers that have been spoken on our behalf during this journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
