Ronald Leon Rust

Ronald Leon Rust, 74, of Gilmer, TX, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Ronald was born October 1, 1948, in Pittsburg, TX, to Leon and Betty Rust. Ronald graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and earned an associate degree from Kilgore College. Following college, Ronald, known as “Sister” by his co-workers, worked for Texas Eastman in the maintenance division from 1969 to 2001. Ronald married the love of his life, Debbie Rust, on January 20, 1981. Following his retirement, he and his beloved wife, Debbie, spent their time traveling to the coast of Texas, where they enjoyed fishing and camping near the ocean.

Ronald is survived by his daughter, Natalye and husband Chris Combs of Lindale, TX; son, Shayne Rust and wife Cyndi of Union Grove, TX; brother, Cary Rust and wife Debbie of Carthage, NC; and sister Karen and husband Kenneth Ferguson of Mt. Pleasant, TX. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Adam Slaydon and wife Amanda of Union Grove, TX; Nathan Feuquay of Farmers Branch, TX; Mia and Keeley Rust of Union Grove, TX; and great-grandchild Able Slaydon of Union Grove, TX. Ronald is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Brigette and husband Philip Douglas, Nicole and husband Joe Sadler, Tabitha and husband Caleb Wilson; nephew Kris Ferguson and wife Starla; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Ronald’s favorite pastime was being “PaPa” to his grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Betty Rust, and his adoring wife, Debbie Rust.

Graveside services for Ronald will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview.  Services under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
